Thomas Nussdorfer is a board certified family physician who has been active in family medicine for the last 27 years. He attended the University of Notre Dame where he received his Bachelors of Science, graduating with Honors. He then went on to earn his medical degree from University of Michigan Medical School and completed his Residency at Grand Rapids Family Practice, St. Mary’s Hospital.
Dr. Nussdorfer, his partners, and The Walk-In Clinic staff volunteer as Medical Directors for Camp Greilick Boy Scout Camp, help with school sports exams, and participate with community organizations to improve the health of our community.
Dr. Nussdorfer has served as both sub-investigator and principle investigator in more than 30 clinical research studies over the last 19 years. He is currently acting as investigator with Medical Research Associates in Traverse City. Since 1989 he has acted as a Preceptor for family medicine resident and participates in the education of medical students, physician assistant students and nurse practitioner students.
In addition to his education and professional experience Dr. Nussdorfer is a certified Medical Review Officer and has received his certification in Basic and Advanced Cardiac Life Support.

Peter Springsteen is a board certified family physician who has been in active practice for the last 27 years. He attended Michigan State University, graduating with Honors. He then went on to earn his medical degree through Wayne State University School of Medicine. He completed his Family Medicine Residency at the Grand Rapids Medical Education Center. Further education includes a Certificate in Medical Management/Information Technology through the American College of Physician Executives and Carnegie Mellon University.
In addition to his education and professional experience Dr. Springsteen is certified as an Aviation Medical Examiner, a Medical Review Officer and is certified in Basic and Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
Dr. Springsteen has served as both sub-investigator and principle investigator in more than 30 clinical research studies over the last 18 years. He is currently acting as investigator with Medical Research Associates in Traverse City. He is actively involved in the community, teaching medical students and residents and is a faculty member at Michigan State University School of Human Medicine.
He is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, Michigan Academy of Family Physicians, American College of Physician Executives, and the American Association of Medical Review Officers.
Jan Vlach is a family physician certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Illinois, taught Anatomy and Physiology for two years at Parkland College in Illinois, then earned his medical degree in 1982 at Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine. He completed a residency in Family Practice at Memorial Hospital in LaGrange, Illinois. He was a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society in college and the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society in medical school.
Dr. Vlach has been appointed Clinical Assistant Professor in the Family Medicine Department and the Department of Pediatrics and Human Development at Michigan State University; and is actively involved in teaching medical students, physician assistants and medical residents. He is an Aviation Medical Examiner for the Federal Aviation Administration, a Medical Review Officer certified by the Medical Review Officer Certification Council, and is certified in both Basic and Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Dr. Vlach also works with Medical Research Associates in Traverse City, and has served as both Principle Investigator and Sub-Investigator for many medical research projects over the years. He is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Michigan Academy of Family Physicians.
Mrs. Crosby has been a certified Physician Assistant since 1999. Following a Bachelors in Science degree in Biology at Albion College, she received her Masters of Science in Physician Assistant studies at Central Michigan University.
She has spent approximately 6 years in family practice medicine, working for Kalkaska Family Practice and Suttons Bay Medical Clinic. It was during this time that she became employed by The Walk-In Clinic, which she has been a part of since 2003. In addition to the urgent care setting, Mrs. Crosby has continued her interest in family medicine by joining Partners in Health of Traverse City, a family practice located at The Walk-In Clinic that was started by herself and Christy Alexander, PA-C, after noticing a need for primary care in the Traverse City area.
Mrs. Crosby is certified in Basic Life Support for Providers. She is a member of both the Michigan Academy of Physician Assistants and the American Academy of Physician Assistants.
Mrs. Alexander has been a certified Physician Assistant since 1997. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Michigan State University where she then went onto to receive her Masters of Science in Physician Assistant studies from The Chicago Medical School/Finch University of Health Sciences.
For the last 16 years Mrs. Alexander has enjoyed working in family practice, occupational medicine and urgent care medicine. In 2010, she, along with Kirsten Crosby, started Partners in Health of Traverse City, a family practice located at The Walk-In Clinic.
She is certified in Basic and Advanced Cardiac Life Support and is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants.
Mr. Tiernan has been a certified Physician Assistant since 1995. He received his initial associate degree at Oakland Community College as a radiologic technologist. He furthered his education at Kettering College of Medical Arts in Kettering, Ohio where his received his degree as a Physician Assistant.
Mr. Tiernan began his Physician Assistant career in upstate New York where he worked in addiction and psychiatric medicine. He then moved with his family to Traverse City, Michigan and has worked with the physicians of The Walk-In Clinic in urgent care medicine since 1996.
Mr. Tiernan has training in Basic Cardiac Life Support as well as Advanced Cardiac Life Support. He is a member of the Michigan Academy of Physician Assistants.
Dr. Angela Pohl is a board-certified physician practicing in Traverse City since 2012. A native of Port Huron, MI, she earned a BA in Health Education with a minor in Nutrition from Northern Michigan University. Those long cold winters sent her packing to medical school in Glendale, Arizona, where she graduated magna cum laude from Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2009. She spent her two years of clinical rotations traveling the country: from Yuma, Arizona to Rhode Island, from southern Florida to the UP. During an elective rotation she fell in love with Traverse City.
She completed her osteopathic Internal Medicine residency at Swedish Covenant Hospital in Chicago, IL from 2009 to 2012. There, she became very involved with hospital ethics committee and the study of bioethics, particularly in its relation to medical education.
Dr. Pohl started working with Indigo Health Partners as a hospitalist at Munson Medical Center in 2012. She served on the Bioethics Resource Committee for two years. In early 2015 she left full-time hospital practice for outpatient primary care at Thirlby Clinic. She still works part-time as a hospitalist because she just can't say goodbye to the physicians and staff at Munson.
She joins Partners In Health in December, 2016. She's excited to join this group of providers and looks forward to continuing to build relationships in the community and focusing on achieving wellness goals. She's a member of the American College of Osteopathic Internists, the American College of Physicians, and precepts medical students as an adjunct faculty member for Michigan State College of Osteopathic Medicine. She has been certified in BLS and ACLS.
